“You Were the One”
You were the one
I was hoping
I could count on
you were the one I was hoping
I could trust
the one I was hoping
to never hurt me
just like you promised
after all, for you loved me
“a whole lot” and “forever”
remember?
so I opened up
far and wide despite
my fears
of being hurt
and fought the odds
of our strange beginning
I was counting on you
to be true
to your word
to be the one
to love me true
but instead.
you broke my heart
my spirits crushed
questioning my faith
who I am became a
mystery to me
inflicting within me
a burrowing pain
too deep to endure
You were the one
I was sure
I was so damn sure
