“Love Song”

I heard a song
once, sung to my soul
permeating every atom of remembrance
I drifted back to a time of
broken hearts and shattered dreams
and pain
The song brought back all the pain
and still
I love that song for all it means
and all it’s power
to take me back to a time
when love was sought but not found
when love was witnessed from afar
and not experienced
when love was not recognized
even within myself

I heard a song once, and again
every time I hear this song it takes me
back to a time
and I reflect and I grow wise and I realize
I’ve been living in love all along
and the song lives on within
