“Star Journey”
I wandered, aimlessly through the mist
And came upon a star that shot across my path
And there I was, standing amiss
My clothes torn and tattered
My hair such a mess!
“What was that star?”
I asked the sky
No answer was its reply
“But why?” I continued
with a despaired tone
“I'm hurt, tired and all alone.
Wont you talk to me sky?”
Tears now pouring from my eyes.
“What is it you wish to know,
despaired one? The sky speaks not,
for it's busy holding up the stars”
said the moon.
“Oh hello moon! How are you tonight?
I was asking the sky about that star
That just tore through the night”
I said, happy to hear a friendly voice.
“Ah, yes! That was no ordinary star,
beloved traveler of the night!
It was granting you a wish this night!”
The moon spoke with such patience and wisdom,
Surely he's the wisest of this starry kingdom.
“Well, is it too late to make my wish?”
I asked, hoping for a second chance.
“He's an old friend of mine. I shall
ask him to return as a special favor to me”
moon said with a wink
and before I could blink
the shooting star caressed my vision
of the nighttime sky!
“Oh shooting star! Oh shooting star!”
I said with such excitement
I nearly fell off my cloud
(which, by the way, was beginning to emanate a silvery glow)
“wont you grant my wish tonight?”
“Ah, starry traveler, I've been waiting for you!”
said the star - such a friendly star indeed!
“The angel up above said you have a very special need?
What is it I can grant you this night?”
“Well,” I began, “I'd really like to travel this sky more easily.
Cloud-hopping can be quite tiresome.
And I'd love some company as I journey, for
It really can get lonesome on these trails.
And star, there's something else.
I have this longing, deep within, and feel separated and alone.
Can you help me ease this longing?”
And suddenly, without a reply from the star,
Wings opened up where I never knew I had wings before!
And at the end of my trail, grand, golden doors opened up before me
And angels everywhere applauded my arrival.
Truly, it is so amazing. I cry at the thought
of my seeming forgetfulness,
These angels are my family!
I bless this journey, through the stars divine,
For they've brought me to Heaven,
And let me tell you,
It's well worth the climb!
Happy Trails!
