“To Be Me”
I am living a lie
I thought to myself
For I cannot bear
To be seen for who
I truly am
Fear of rejection
And erroneous
Projections,
I fear not being seen
For my true identity,
And yet, my resolution
To this is to hide
Far and wide
I have searched to
Discover my authenticity
While instead discovering
Life's simplicities
To discover who I am,
I am simply to be it
Quite the paradox I must say,
For thus I must struggle
Each & every day
To lay my claims
On my stay, and say,
“This is who I am today,
but tomorrow, tomorrow
is another day”
