“To Be Me”

I cannot bear to be seen
for who I truly am

fear of rejection
and erroneous
projections

I fear not being seen
for my true identity
and yet, my resolution to this
is to hide

far and wide
I have searched
to discover my authenticity
while instead discovering
life's simplicities

to discover who I am
I am simply to be it
quite the paradox I must say
for thus I must struggle
each & every day

to lay my claims
on my stay, and say,
“This is who I am today
but tomorrow, tomorrow
is another day.”
