“While You Were Sleeping”

In love with a man
or was it the plan
and the dream
of a life
she thought she could have
or should have

Dreaming along in love with the man
planning the life to be his wife
until the day
fate decided to play along
on the railroad track,

And then there's Jack
he came along too
while the man in the suit
you know, the one she loved,
or so she thought

lay sleeping

That's when she met Jack

She said to the man
in the suit, who later asked
her when she knew
she loved Jack.
she told him,

“It was while you were sleeping.”
